Graeme, Jane, Samuel, Benjamin and Martin Peters are our link missionaries. They serve with Church Missionary Society in Concepción, Chile.
Concepción:
Concepción is Chile’s third largest city with a population of close to one million people.
Graeme and Jane Peters pastor an Anglican Church, San Juan. Graeme works with Sergio, a recent graduate of the Centre for Pastoral Studies (CEP). Graeme and the San Juan ministry team also provide pastoral care to an English congregation. Jane ministers to women and students at the church.
Please pray:
- for the Peters pastoral ministry with San Marcos church. There is an acute shortage of pastors right across the country.
- for GBU as it goes through a major staff turnover.
APOSS is supported by BCA, which means we have people praying and giving generously to ensure our ministry continues. As recipients of such vital support, we want to be mission supporters ourselves, to see God’s Word taken to all nations to make Disciples of Christ.
The most important job we can have in our lives is praying for others to come to know Jesus and have eternal life with him. An effective way of doing this is praying for the missionaries whose sole purpose is to carry out this evangelistic work.
The way we are aiming to do this at APOSS is through the following mission organisations:
ABM
The Anglican Board of Mission (ABM) is the national mission agency of the Anglican Church of Australia. ‘For over 158 years we have been assisting people all over the world to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provide health and education services, improve agricultural practices, and strengthen the church.’
Recently the APOSS Sunday School children brought some of their own money along to help the people in Burma after the devastating cyclone destroyed their homes and so many lives. The children also made cards to encourage the church in Burma to keep trusting in Jesus. This activity was to help the children learn what it means to put our faith into practice as Christians.
The children received a lovely letter back from ABM thanking them for their generous gift and saying they will pass on their cards to the church in Burma.
Every year our Anglican Deanery area has an Apron Day Rally to raise money for the mission work of ABM. This year the Apron Day will be held on Friday 22nd August at the All Saints’ Church in Ouyen (Corner Hunt Street and Martin Avenue).
The morning starts at 10.15 with morning tea. The guest speaker is Bev Hewlett, National ABM Auxiliary Secretary and Appeals Officer. Everyone is invited to ‘Come and join a fantastic day of worship, fellowship and learning, fun and fundraising.’
BCA
BCA’s mission is to minister to remote and rural Australia through Anglican churches and their ministers, giving them ongoing support where they would otherwise struggle to survive.
The best way to support BCA is by praying through their prayer diary and donating money. You will not only be supporting our ministry here at APOSS, but remote and rural churches throughout Australia.
BCA has a very informative website about their ministry. You are able to read the prayer diary and the Real Australian magazine. You can receive a hard copy either through church or by mail.
